Axis of putting stupid ideas in people's heads

It's just over a year since Bush first spoke of the Axis of Evil, and nearly a year since it was expanded to make sure all the bad guys got a mention.

Back then we all wondered what Bush was going on about. Bin Laden and Hussein would make extremely unlikely allies even though neither are big fans of the Bush family. Yet last night a tape was played which is apparently Osama telling the world that he is best friends with Saddam. Now there's a chance that this is all just propaganda from the west to try and make us scared, or there's a chance it's genuine. I'd like to think the west wouldn't sink so low but I'm not saying it's not possible.

But working on the idea that maybe Osama and Saddam are so close they're planning to send each other Valentine's cards it does raise the question of just who was the first to say they were a scary duo who was working together to overthrow the west? Oh yeah, the west! Now if we hadn't made such a big deal about how Iraq was a huge threat because it's within a million miles of Osama's hiding place would the two sides have become so close?

What about North Korea? So far they haven't aligned themselves with either but apparently they're also part of this Axis of Evil we should all be scared about. They have recently warned that if cornered they'll land the first blow. Will we see them too siding with Saddam Bin Laden? So far it's probably the furthest thing from their minds but having been labelled as part of the group should we be surprised if they end up joining in?

By trying to pursue his righteous campaign on so many fronts and telling the world how these people are dangerous surely Bush is just arguing that they should all gang up against him.

I think you're completely right, but try telling that to George W. and his cronies. :-(

Well unfortunately not everyone realises how I'm so often right :-)
