We don't understand this, we should be scared?
Yes, the good people of Broughton in Buckinghamshire prove once again that you don't have to travel far to find people who don't understand that photographs don't steal your soul, or your TV come to that. When spotting one of Google's Streetview cars trundling down the road a chap called Paul Jacobs did what we'd all do and rushed outside to stand in front of moving traffic. Frankly, if I wanted to get on TV I can think of better ways.
I don't have a problem with Google wanting to promote villages. What I have a problem with is the invasion of privacy, taking pictures directly into the home.
Yep, I'm always poking around Streetview looking at what people are cooking for dinner, checking out whether they have a nicer stereo than I do. Personally I recommend the early morning and evening photos since you often find people taking showers and getting undressed - it's brilliant because porn is so hard to find on the Internet, we need some kind of engine which would let us search for things really.
Oh wait, no! That's the multiple abuses of CCTV that does all the pervy spying in our houses! Google are the people who spoke to many lawyers, privacy groups, and police authorities to confirm that they're allowed to publish photos taken in public places. They're not exactly walking the line here, these photos aren't zoomed in to people's homes, you can barely read the house number half the time let alone the brand of DVD player someone has.
Yes, Google Streetview - because any technology that simple must be wrong!
