On Friday we climbed in the car and drove for miles, and miles, and miles. Just before we fell into the sea we stopped at her dad's place in Wales.
The Severn Bridge ignored one of our coins so it actually cost us $5.45 to enter the country! Although we ended up at a motorway Burger King on the way home (yes, I know) and boggled even further at the £4.39 they charged for a bacon cheeseburger (including the question "Do you want bacon on that?" Yeah, we wanted a bacon cheeseburger without any bacon, we wouldn't have saved money and ordered a cheeseburger would we?)
But still, a fairly enjoyable weekend was had. Saturday we were taken for the tour (which apparently would've included poking around the gas refinery had we visited earlier) and saw St. David's Cathedral and, erm, various pieces of coast. Welsh red mustard was tasty for lunch. Traditional lemonade less so (I like lemon in it personally). Followed by ice cream which was chilly, and mine was sinfully nice.
Sunday was an unexpectedly quiet day, so Cathy and I found a ping pong table and laughed ourselves silly at trying to play. More touring and coastline happened, followed by possibly the fattiest roast lamb I've ever eaten, along with the craziest and most fun yorkshire pudding ever made, and a very nice toffee pudding to finish. A walk on the beach was had, including a random game of fetch with a little dog who decided I was Friend, before it was back to the car and more coastline touring. A game of pool in the evening and today we had a relaxing drive home.
Or basically we did next to nothing all weekend but in a different location, which made a nice change.
