Random trivia I learnt today

I can tow a trailer! Okay, to clarify I don't actually know I can through practical experience or anything. Sure I probably have slightly above average Towing Theory given I grew up in a house that did a fair amount of towing, but I don't believe I've ever hitched anything to the back of a car and actually towed it. But! I can. As in, I'm licensed to do so. Which is actually a pretty pathetic revelation for the day given that I already knew I could. Maybe clarification doesn't help, let's start again.

A lot of people can't tow trailers! (Which to clarify I don't mean the usual sight of someone painfully jack-knifed on their driveway or anything silly like that.) In all the crazy driving test changes that have happened since I passed my test (for the record I passed a few months before the theory test was introduced and since then it's changed umpteen times) apparently the standard license dropped trailer towing. Probably very sensible really (towing isn't the inate skill most people think it is and I'm sure I could embarass myself if I just tried it) but it still seems bizarre.

I love my old-fashioned license with all it's tractors, snowmobiles, lawnmowers and other assorted stuff I'm unlikely to ever drive (despite a Boys 'n' Their Toys urge suggesting it would be very cool). I should use these bizarre reaches of my driving license much more.
