Brightmail are a pretty big and respected mail filtering service owned by Symantec. In fact, they filter the mail I get to a decade old mail address I have with an ISP. Now obviously with such an old address and my happieness to actually use the thing in public it gets a bit of spam so spam filtering really makes a difference to me. Or it would if Brightmail were any good!
Now there's a chance I've complained about Brightmail in the past, so I don't want to sound harsh but, can anyone spot a single legit mail in this screen shot?
Seriously, anyone? 'Cause that's just a snapshot of the 411 emails they've accepted for me so far today. Just out of shot you'll be treated to the PHP-WM mailing list telling me that Brightmail are happy to reject their mail, but the dozens upon dozens of absolute junk mail (of which running a few through my own mail server's filters reveals they'd get blown away) will be happily delivered.
Brightmail sucks. Brightmail are apparently just about as useless as spam filtering can get. I should not be so much more effective at filtering spam than an "industry leader" - I'm a nobody! (Which is why I'm confident that isn't really Tiger Woods sending me an email.)
