There are minor events that sometimes you don't put together until later. Like yesterday. Having been parked at Warwick I headed to my car for the journey home. As I approached I noticed a big big van belonging to my old friends the AA breakdown service! Of course, it was parked across the back of my car. Such things will happen, the car next to mine was having problems and they need to park somewhere, but they should stay alert.
I approached my car and decided to be polite. I put my bag in the passenger side, I took my jacekt off and put that in there too, the same with my sweater. This took time, it made noise. The gang of lads whose car was being fixed all saw me. So they started asking the AA man stupid questions. So when I, another young male (because they're so rare around a university) walked around to the driver's door he looked up from his conversation and just shot me a look, before turning away from me.
Now I was standing there in a t-shirt, the group of lads grinning inanely were all in thick coats and hats and the AA man had his big official coat on. After a while I was able to get his attention long enough to ask him to move, which in all fairness he did promptly. Had he been in the middle of actual work I would've happily waited out of politeness, but he was just talking to more people than could fit in the car he was charging the battery for.
Maybe the guy was just having a bad day, he certainly didn't seem impressed with the lads he was dealing with, but given that he'd blocked me in a space and I'd been very polite to him, maybe I could've done without being ignored except for the funny look. I know none of these companies are perfect but the more I encounter the AA the more I'm confident I should try to avoid them like the plague.
