I'm quite used to driving to Cathy's these days, so much so that it almost seems routine. Well the weekend got off to an interesting start when my drive yesterday had a little added adventure, although interesting can be fun this time it certainly wasn't.
The traffic was heavy as we waited to pass through toll booths. At one of the numerous stops I pulled my handbrake on and relaxed for a second. It was at this point the car behind me didn't stop. I noticed this because my car lunged forwards and left my head behind.
Thankfully we all shuffled over to a safe place and exchanged details. With just a bit of shock it looked like no major injuries, although here I am over 24 hours later and my neck is still aching so a trip to the doctors will be happening when I get back home. As for the vehicles, it looks quite minor on the surface but I'm half expecting some seriously bent metal once I move the bumper out the way. As fond as I am of my car I can't pretend it has a great deal of structural strength and some places are indeed meant to crumple so I'll have to take a closer look when I get home.
Still, all things considered it all could have been much worse so I'm looking on the bright side for now. If my doctor or mechanic tell me bad news then I'll have enough to worry about, and if they don't then I'll be happy about that. For now though, I'm not grumbling. Collisions on motorways are rarely that tame.
