The Soham trail took a strange turn today when Maxine Carr declared:

I'm not going to be blamed for what that thing in the box [Mr Huntley] has done to me and those children.

Which makes me wonder why she's been so reserved for so long. If he's really such a monster why did she wait six months after their arrest to break up with him? The couple wrote to each other for a few months after their arrest, and yet now she's fighting for her image he's a mere thing?

When the case started I felt there was something strange about it all, and when we heard Huntley's side of events I felt they were believable. Of course it's unlikely we'll ever know exactly what happened that night, but I'm prepared to give Huntley the benefit of the doubt. Carr's attempts to paint herself as a victim in this PR frenzy just make me dislike her more and more. I feel sorry for them both because the press tried the case many months ago, but at least Huntley isn't trying to pretend he's an angel.
